Now that we're a little further in the book, I'd like you to choose another question to respond to. This time, in your response, please write 3-5 sentences, and spend a little more time on it. What I mean by that is pretend it's being graded for spelling, capitalization, etc. It's easy when we're online to not use standard English, but for classroom blog posts, I'd like you to focus on it. It's important to know what it's okay to not capitalize and when it isn't. For example, I don't capitalized anything in my personal emails to my friends. But I would never send an email to our principal without checking my capitalization. I want you to start being aware of your choices online.
Now, for the questions:
1. What do you think of Leo's choice to follow Stargirl? What does it make you think about him?
2. What do you think will happen next? Jerry Spinelli left us with sort of an ominous statement at the end of the chapter: "How could I have known that he would soon be challenged by a freckle-nosed homeschooler?"
3. Think again about Peet compared to Mica High. When Hillari Kimble and Wayne Parr are described, do you think of any similarities? Please don't name names, but feel free to comment on if you think there are similar leaders at Peet.

Hey Mis Griffin I am in now.
ReplyDeleteI think o'll Leo likes Sar Girl.
ReplyDeleteMaby Star Girl also wants to be a model.
I don't think Peet has a "Hillari Kimble." Although I do think that there are people like Wayne Parr in every school that I have gone to including Peet JR. High.
1. In the past chapters, Leo has come to, well, not exactly admire Star girl, but rather respect her. In an attempt to find out Star girl's true nature-without risking the taunts of the other students- Leo follows her after school. I for one think that his sneaky decision is both a kind gesture, and an insult. He alone is showing a positive interest in this girl who obviously cares more about her fellows' well-being and happiness than her own popularity. And although one could say Leo is being brave in respecting this "oddity", I find a strong streak of cowardice and selfishness in his actions. He does not seek to comfort the new student, or let her know he has no hostilities against her, but rather sneak around, afraid to admit his interest and moderate liking for her.
ReplyDelete2. If one simple and ordinary student dares to challenge the heart of Mica High society, I would say that one disagrees with the goals and opinions that might spread to the outer limbs of the social tree. However, Star girl is not-at least to the students- a simple, ordinary girl. In her own way, I believe she will try to help Wayne Parr in his dream, but fumble, or try disastrously to help him recognize his other talents.
ReplyDelete3. The social lives in Peet and in Mica High are similar, with only a few major differences. While there is only 1 person at the center of the entire crowd (more or less)at Mica, Peet has several cliques, with a knot of leaders at the head of each group. Some of the groups do stand out more than others, so I suppose you could say that we do have a "Wayne Parr", but our "Hillori Kimbal" leads her own adjoining clique
ReplyDelete1. I think that it was a risky decision Leo made to follow Stargirl because what if she kidnapped him or something!
ReplyDelete2. Some people may think that Stargirl is trying to beg for attention, but really she's just being herself.
3.I think some people may think that there are a Wayne and Hilary but I dissagree. We have a very wide range of people at Peet that all like to do there own thing. I will admit though, there are some wannabes and people who copy other people just because they want to be "popular". When in reality they should just be themselves.
1. I think that Leo is just curious, and maybe a little suspicious. I am sure he has many questions about Stargirl that he is probably afraid to ask, to her or anyone else. So he likely followed her because he wanted some of those questions answered.
ReplyDelete1. I think Leo just wanted to know where Stargirl came from. For sure he wasn't stalking her (well...sort of).
ReplyDelete2. I think she will talk to Leo about him following her to her home. But it won't be an angry conversation, just an inquisitive one.
3. I do think there are leaders like that at Peet. Even so, if there are leaders like them, they make themselves subtley known.
I think that Stargirl is very smart because she told her not to sing to her. So she didn't she went and was singing to someone else but used her name in it. I want to know if they are going to do the hotspot to her?
ReplyDeleteI think that Leo is curious about Stargirl, if there were someone at Peet similar to her people would act the same way.
ReplyDeleteI also think that there are people at Peet who are leaders, sometimes they are not always the leaders of the group, they are the ones who elect themselves to be a "leader". They don't always lead in what you should be doing, they lead in what they think you should be doing and try to make you the person they want you to be, good or bad.
I think that Leo wants to get to origin of her. She wants to get to know her, when no one knows that he wants too. He wants to find where she belongs and where she lives. Leo keeps a safe distances from "Stargirl" because he doesn't want anyone to find out that he was following her in any way. He wants to find out anything that he can in anyway shape or form, but he doesn't want "Stargirl" to see him. It seems that leo likes her, but wants to learn more before anything like becoming friends happens.
ReplyDelete3. I dont think Peet has a Hillari Kimble or a Wayne Parr. All the groups here are kind of the same. No one thinks of themselves as "Ruler of the School"
ReplyDelete1.I think that leo was doing something kind of smart by following Stargirl but at the same time I think that he should have followed from behind a little more because I think Stargirl knew he was there. This makes me think that leo wants to find out more about Stargirl because he wants to prove everyone else wrong that she is a real girl there.
ReplyDelete2.I think Stargirl will talk to leo about it trying to figure out why he followed her.
3. I think there are groups with kind of leaders but everyone takes part in being kind of a leader in the group so kind of like them but not at the same time.
1. I think it was weird how he followed her because that seems kind of like stalking her. I also think it was a weird decision to keep following her. I probally would have given up and went home. It makes me think he is a little different to follow her so long. I think that he is just curious of her though.
ReplyDelete1. Well, I think that Leo was just curious where she lived. I mean we all wonder sometimes where one or another person lives, right? Well, I don't think he's a stalker if that's what your getting to.
ReplyDelete2. I think Leo will try to get to know Stargirl and become her friend. Maybe, Stargirl will become hugely popular.
3. I think there are "leaders" like Hillari Kimble and Wayne Parr. Mica High seems like the kind of school where you dress the same to look normal. And, also, Peet and Mica High are almost the same with having a "Hillari Kimble" and a "Wayne Parr". There are many different groups at Peet and at Mica High, there are just 2 people who are the "it" people.
3. I don't think Mica and Peet are the same. There isn't just a Hillari and Wayne at our school. The girls at Peet that other people look up to, and think are cool, are nicer and have more friends. They aren't so snobby like Hillari. As for Wayne there isn't just one guy people think is cool, theres lots of people. Lots of different people start new trends too, altho people only follow the ones they want to.
ReplyDeleteI think that Leo is very curious, and that's why he followed Stargirl. He seems like he wants to be "the one" who knows a lot about Stargirl. I think Leo thinks he can expose her, or maybe he just really wants to get to know her. I guess I'll have to wait and find out.
ReplyDelete3. I think that peet and mica arnt the same. Peet students are all like the same in how they act and how they dress. There are only a few kids that look different and act different. At mica all the girls are snoby and at peet they arnt that much.
ReplyDeleteThanks, everyone, for your comments. For some reason it doesn't creep me out that much that Leo followed Stargirl. I guess I just get a good vibe from him. I'm also interested in what Hillari Kimble will do next, and if Stargirl will care. I'm glad to see that so many of you think that Mica is different than Peet. My junior high experience was a lot like Mica High, except we had more school spirit. People were still pretty wary of anything that was a little bit different.
ReplyDeleteI think that it was kind of weird that he followed her. If i was her I would be very creeped out and I think he should have just tried to talk to her to learn more about her insted of following her
ReplyDeleteI think Leo was just curious about her. He seems to like that she is different from everyone else and wanted to know more about her.
ReplyDeleteI think he is following her just so he can date the interesting girl of the class, well school.
ReplyDeleteRather that or he just wants to interview her
ReplyDeleteI'm going to answer question one, again. ;) I found it kind of interesting and confusing when Leo followed Stargirl. I'm starting to think that he likes her.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry that the post didn't come up before, but hopfully it works this time.
Hello, I was just coming by on this site to see if you had the questions up from what you had said today in English. I will try back again to see if you have posted them or not. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI think stargirl is exotic person qith many charictics to love and hate.
ReplyDeleteI think that there is no reason for them to hate her, in my opinion she has done nothing wrong.
